Maybe I have experienced a series of particularly careless baggage handlers, but each trip with this case has resulted in damage to the case. I am four trips in and the case is approaching being unusable. The hard plastic in front of the handlebars is cracked, the aluminum frame that holds the bike is dented and bent in several places, and the crush pole bent and needed to be straightened. If all of this happened in one use I would assume it was an unusually rough trip, but each trip results in more damage. I will say that despite all the damage to the case, the bikes have come through unscathed. That said, the price is way too high for it to only last for a few trips.
My other observation is that getting the struts in and out of the bag to pack the bike or break the bag down for storage can be difficult.
Easy to pack/unpack the bike. Good protection design though I still pad all frame tubes. The one weak point was the zipper at the front corner abraded severely and quickly (6 flights) to the point that I was worried I wouldn't be able to zip the bag closed. They've since added plastic protectors to that area indicating they were aware of the problem but denied my warranty claim and wouldn't even offer a discount on a replacement bag. Poor form for a nearly $1,000 bike bag.
Short review - I am happy with this bag. It was hard to pay the substantial cost, but it was the best quality I could find.
Longer review - With cargo straps, shoes and helmet this weighed 53 lbs. It is big… but compared to the ICON bag it is the same height and width but about a foot longer. I left the derailleur on and felt like it was pretty well protected; The bike is as well protected as any bag I have seen YMMV. With practice, packing and unpacking takes about a half hour. Rolling it around is like butter, then it folds down reasonably small.
Negative - The buckles for the tie down straps are wimpy and not easily replaceable. I predict a problem.
I would love to be able to write a review of my suitcase. Unfortunately, my purchase never arrived and I still have no response from the store to resolve my situation. My package is lost and when I write to them to find out the progress of the claim, they do not answer. Very poor customer service.
Recently bought this case recommended by my local bike shop. Traveled to Puerto Rico on Delta from Atlanta. My bike is all carbon with carbon fiber wheels too. Initially, the bike shop helps me with how to put the case together and quick tutorials on how to pack the bike. Only thing that I had to do was removed the wheels. I got some pipe foam from Walmart to put around the rear derailuer. I strapped my hand pump to the bottom tube between fork and pedals. I removed the pedals too. Put and another small bag with my ratchets in the case. All weighed 54lbs at the checkin counter. Went and came with no damage to the bike
